In May 2014 international students of the MGIMO English-language B.A. program visited Kazan for a tourist trip. During this journey the students managed to visit most famous sightseeing places of Tatarstan, try out Tatar cuisine, and even find new friends. Students NataliyaAlieva and Mariana Corea share their reflections on the trip:
«The trip to Kazan’ was remarkable! We spent the weekend visiting very interesting places, getting acquainted with a new culture and new people. Each of us was amazed by the beauty of the city and the way its residents of different ethnicities live together in harmony. And this is one of the main aspects that makes Kazan’ an extraordinary place.
We visited beautiful mosques, churches, and there were no more than 50 meters apart. Moreover, we managed to try the delicious Tatar cuisine and bring home some of the national delicacies.
And another side of the trip was that we, the students, got to strengthen our ties with one another, while we also met new friends.
It was a good opportunity for non-Russian native speakers to practice their knowledge of the language and pick up some new vocabulary.
We are really thankful to the administration for giving us the opportunity to travel to such a wonderful place. It was a great pleasure to go on this well-organized trip, and we would love to take part in such activities whenever it is possible.»
