MGIMO team won Changellenge Moscow Cup 2011

Mid December 2011 MGIMO team Case Surfers compiled by the 4th year students from the economic department won Changellenge Moscow Cup 2011. Our team successfully overcame all the hurdles on the way to the victory and showed high quality of the knowledge in the competition with their rivals. They brought the cup to alma mater.

Changellenge Moscow Cup 2011 is a championship on business case solutions which gathers student teams from major Russian Universities. This event allows students to test themselves in a role of business advisers, to fulfill skills of a various kind of presentations, to develop ability to work together and, certainly, to prove before employers.

The championship has been taking place regularly since 2007. The main mastermind of the event is Andrei Alasov, MGIMO alumnus, and the development of the championship was highly supported by another MGIMO alumnus - Ekaterina Butorina. Among the partners of the event such companies as Ernst&Young, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Sanofi Avensis, Accenture, Education First and IE Business School.

Some 400 teams comprising 1600 students from different Universities participated in Changellenge Moscow Cup 2011. Only 15 teams from MGIMO, HSE, MSU, MEPHI, MIPT and other leading Russian Universities reached the final round.

 

Maksim Sofronov, Fedor Chuvilkin, Yuri Kotikov and Victoria Susakova are the 4th year students from the International Economy department. Thier team “Case Surfers” presented MGIMO during the Championship and eventually won the cup. It was the first time in the history of the championship when MGIMO team efficiently battled in the final competition.

December 23 they were received by the MGIMO rector Anatoly Vasilyevich Torkunov and discussed with him the role of the case study and its place in the study process. Rector congratulated students on the victory and suggested that they should initiate the same championship at the University level.
